Do you find the term test tube baby inquisitive? Do you feel it is something very recent or is it been long that we all are living with it? Why is it that it’s just common nowadays?
Well, there are a couple answers to this, the primary being Technology! Definitely, what has not advanced with time? , your studies, workspaces, lifestyle and even entertainment, so even medicine is not behind, it has been with the race of time in advancement and technology. The second reason being the need, it is rightly said that need ignites innovation. There was a need for this innovation and that is the very reason it came into play and is immensely widespread these days. The need was lack of natural conception or in other words Infertility!
Infertility is defined as the failure to conceive within one year of regular unprotected intercourse. Primary infertility refers to patients who have never conceived and secondary infertility indicates previous pregnancy but failure conceive subsequently.
When we talk of infertility, the woman’s health is what pops into our mind without any specification. We could attribute this to a taboo or a way of thinking but to your surprise, infertility can be both female and male infertility.
The reasons which lead to male infertility are congenital causes(causes present since birth)like the improper formation of the testis, sexually transmitted diseases, testicular damage, endocrine causes, seminal abnormality.
The reasons which are attributed to the causal of female infertility are older age of the woman when she conceives, increased stress, sedentary lifestyle leading to weight gain , co morbidities like endometriosis, PCOS ,hypothyroidism, polyps, fibroids, ovulation dysfunction etc.
Since the lifestyle these days has become sedentary ,the health of the people is being ignored and subsided without a voluntary effort leading to unhealthy routines and hormonal imbalances as a result which then can lead to a woman being infertile.
Since the reasons are many, so are the treatments. The treatment of infertility depends upon various factors main of which being the cause of the infertility, apart from this it also depends upon the age and health status of the patient.
A doctor can cure the infertility and leave no stone unturned to make the miracle happen but one thing as the humans of tomorrow, we should keep in mind is the fertilisation depends upon the eggs and the sperms of the couple and nothing can replace or reform these two.
