POF is seen to be distressing when diagnosed in any female and adequate emotional and psychological sOvaries usually remain active till 50-55 years of life of a female after which she attains menopause that is the end of her reproductive life. The causes can be divided into primary and secondary ovarian failure. Primary ovarian failure can be causes by genetic causes and is usually estimated at birth but manifests later in life. Lack of exercise and continued mental stress due to work or personal or social factors could be an add on too.
The symptoms seen commonly in POF are irregular menstrual bleeding and infertility. Associated symptoms can be hot flashes, mood changes and vaginal dryness which are similar t the symptoms of menopause.
